Oregon State Upsets Washington

Feb 4, 2011 6:12 AM

Oregon State defeated No. 19 Washington 68-56 on Thursday night in a Pac-10 upset.

The Beavers had lost three straight and six of seven. It was their first win over a ranked team since 2006.

"We don't want to celebrate too much," said Omari Johnson. "But be happy that we won and get our groove back."

It was Washington's second straight loss.

"If we're not disciplined on defense, that is on me. It's my fault," coach Lorenzo Romar said. "I have to get our guys to play better defense. We're capable of doing it, we've done it before, but we've gotten away from it lately."

Landen Lucas Doesn't Regret Transfer To Findlay

Feb 2, 2011 3:59 PM

Transfering from Sunset (Oregon) to Findlay College Prep was an opportunity Landen Lucas felt he couldn't pass up.

Lucas left Sunset after his sophomore season and will be in attendance on Friday to watch his former team. Sunset would have been considered a contender for the Class 6A state championship had he remained at the school.

"I'm not going to lie. That weighs on you," Lucas said by telephone. "I really believe we could have had a chance to win a state championship. But I have to remember that we have a chance to win a national championship at Findlay. It's hard, but you have to look ahead."

Lucas didn't go to Findlay for exposure, as it was about preparing for college.

"If I had to make the choice again, I would still do it," Lucas said. "I wanted a new challenge, to push myself and get prepared to go college a year or two ahead of everyone else. (Findlay players) come out of here and make an immediate impact in college because they're so far ahead of everyone else."

As for his college decision, Oregon State and Oregon remain contenders.
